Translate This Page The card of the course will tell you that this is not the longest you will ever play, at just less than 5400 metres, just under 6000 yards. It is however a challenging course for those of all handicaps & abilities as you would expect from a Nicklaus Design course. Perhaps the biggest challenge to keeping a steady score is to avoid the huge areas of sand and of course - keep out of the water! The style and set up of the course rewards accuracy and a steady nerve.Although there are holes where you can open your shoulders and strike it. Also there is an element of risk and reward - as early as the second hole where you can go for it over the bunker to leave a short second or a steadier path up the left leaving a more testing second. The par 3 holes of which there are six are as much a challenge to your wallet as to the scorecard. Holes 3, 5 and 15 offer different challenges of hitting uphill, over a near desert and to a well bunkered green respectively. The 9,11 and 17 where the lakes are in play and ready to take any wayward shots. The 9th is played from a tee adjacent to the Inter Continental Hotel's pool area over the lake to a narrow green sited just in front of the clubhouse windows requiring good clubbing and a steady nerve. The 11th is the toughest, especially if the breeze is against. Running along the edge of a lake, it plays to a green located on a finger of land protruding into the lake and requires a carry of up to 200 yards depending on the tee in use. The 17th lies on the other side of the lake from the 11th and plays in the opposite direction but while the water lurks all along the right hand side there is a fairway to play on for the more cautious! With each nine having a par 5 & five par 4s the course is well balanced, attractively planted and as with most Nicklaus courses has well protected sloping greens - some fairly subtle and some steeply rising and falling ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
